The Cutest Running Shoes Ever

Hello! How’s it going?

Over here I am getting ready to make tamales! My family only makes tamales for Christmas because it’s a TON of work. And actually I’ve never made them myself – I always just go over my Nana’s and help, but I wasn’t able to go this year.

Check out – Tamale Making 101 for one of the times I made them with her!

Since I’m staying in California for Christmas this year I decided to start the tradition of making them with my lil mom and brother (they don’t know they’re helping yet – but it takes a village to make tamales!).

First step: Make the meat that goes inside. Done.

While this cooked yesterday I went to my mom’s and hung out with my peeps. We worked in a little walk to justify all the goodies.

And I got into the Christmas spirit by watching Home Alone.

My favorite tiny person came over too and I got a peek at the world’s cutest running shoes! (Okay, maybe they’re not so much ‘running’ shoes as ‘stumble around like a small drunk person shoes’ but you know what I mean.)

Now I have to get back to tamale prep. Next step: make the masa!

This is going to be a very messy adventure – wish me luck!

25 Days of Fitness:

I did one set of abs before my run and I’ll do another one in a bit.

Question: What are you doing today? Working? Playing? Shopping? Other??

Baby size running shoes are the cutest things ever. Why are they never that cute when they are in adult sizes?

Working 16 hours today. No. Fun. The making cookies, which will be fun! 🙂

Today I’m working! But it’s my last day for the year, so I’m pretty happy about that.

There is something about kids shoes that are just adorable. I have no kids to buy them for(of my own or of family or friends), but I find myself looking at them in shops now and then any how!

I went to the gym this morning and they did a workout called “12 days of Christmas” where there was a list of 12 different exercises and you had to go through them like the song, adding the next exercise and then going back through all of them again. It was INTENSE but I loved it.

Now I am going to shower and curl up in my robe.

I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I just checked out your tamale 101 post and then had to google whether you ate the corn husk or not…? hahaha I’ve never had a tamale! But now I see that the masa part cooks and that’s what holds it all together?? fascinating! I bet they are delish 🙂 good luck cooking them today!

Every year we have a “Tamalada” (translation: a tamale making day-long deal). There’s probably about 10-15 people crammed into a kitchen with all stations set up and manned. Each family brings their own meat and we take turns stuffing it. It’s amazing! And then I go all white-girl on them and eat my tamales with ketchup…haha

I’m working today but I have taken quite a few breaks. Tamales look like they’re pretty difficult to make, good luck with that. 🙂

You have now made me soooo hungry…those crappy microwave burritos waiting for me after my lunchtime run are looking pretty sad now. Thanks a lot. 😉 At least the shopping is mostly done. Now just visit, cook, and eat!!!

Tamales are hella work. My whole familia gets together and I think we made like 160 but on Christmas Eve about 50 of us get together so we need that many. One of these days I want to learn how to make just like a dozen.

Tamales are hard work! At my grandmothers house for Christmas eve we make so many. We get about 15-20 lbs of masa. We used to make it from scratch but now my family just purchases it. It is just so much work!

Tiny shoes are the only thing I’ve given my nephew so far (he’s 2 now and has 6 pairs from me). The best ones were probably the vans with sharks on them. SO freakin’ cute.

I got my 16 month old niece a pair of NB! Luckily my friend works for NB and I got a really good deal on them. 🙂
Sadly, I’m working today, but my coworkers are going out for drinks and dinner tonight, which should be fun!
