Hello! How’s your day? I’m having a good one but a little busy since I had a morning doctor’s appointment. This meant I had to cut my run a little short (boo). But it also means I have new health insurance (yeah!) and a doctor that is a lot closer to my place so I can go all the time like the hypochondriac I am. I’d like to call it MobamaCare.
Luckily, most of the things that are wrong with me can only be fixed by Jesus and a panel of psychologists so I was just seeing the doc to update some BC stuff.
Since my new doc is so close I walked there <- people don’t walk in LA or Orange County. But, I’m trying to be green and all that hippie dippie stuff.
After my appointment I walked to the store too! Boom!
I grabbed some dark chocolate covered cashews from the bulk bins and some candied walnuts to put on top of my yogurt fruit bowl. Amazing.
Check out my How to Cut a Mango video if you just make a mess and almost chop your finger off most of the time. They are in season and super cheap right now!
Now let’s talk about this morning’s run and eat…
There’s No Crying in Running
Okay. Crying while running only makes it harder. It’s difficult to breathe…you’re losing extra hydration via tears… you look like a crazy…
Don’t ask me how I know.
But I am here to say you have full permission to cry while foam rolling.
I mean, I don’t. But it’s okay if you want to be a lil sissy lala. I was laughing during this picture and then thought it was extra funny since it looks like I’m crying…
Foam Rolling Facts: Foam Rolling is good for you. It can be compared to a ‘self-massage’ of your problem areas. But it hurts.
That’s because these problem areas are often sensitive ‘knots’ or myofascial adhesions…
“Myofascial adhesions can develop through stress, training, overuse, underuse, movement imbalances and injuries. They are essentially points of constant tension and addressing them can have a positive effect on your workouts. Ignoring them can lead to further dysfunction and may perpetuate and/or cause injury.” – ACE Fitness
With proper foam rolling you can try to work out your extra tight areas – and this can help you key in on tightness and muscle imbalances, extra sore areas and help you avoid injuries.
Check out this Foam Rolling Basics from USA Triathlon for more.
And breakfast was kind of gorgeous… I found some biscuits on super sale at the store and snapped them up. I love a good biscuit. Carbs for life.
I made a egg and cheese biscuit for breakfast and it was like Heaven for 3 minutes. I eat fast.

biscuit with butter and honey or egg and bacon. Yummy!
I just went for thyroid bloodwork last week. I have a new doctor who is making me go every 8 weeks until I am “normal”. And, I do foam roll but I hate it.
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
biscuit sandwiches are the best!! Also I love walking to run errands. Yesterday I walked to the court house and city hall to register my business (woooooo!!!!!) and while I was doing it I was like, “wow, I can’t believe I live in a place where I can literally walk to do these things?!”

my foam roller and I make each other cry on the daily
Christina@LoveYourselfHealthy says
Depends on my mood– As a general rule, I choose English muffins just because they’re healthier, but I love a good, buttery biscuit! And bagels. Mmmmm.
I don’t foam roll… yet. I only just started adding more running recently. I’m sure I’ll need to start doing it one day!
Last time I went to the doctor was…. October-ish? I got pinkeye from my dirty kids. I hate going to doctors, so I go for my annual visit, aaaand when I know I absolutely need some medicine. You know, like for pinkeye.

Foam Rolling hurts so bad and I need to go get a new one this weekend. Also, that biscuit looks delicious

Depends on the day, all three can be amazing.
I teach foam rolling, pilates, and mobility on the foam roller.
The last time I went to the doctor was two months aho for a migraine 🙁

I’m trying to be good and foam roll before my runs. I’ve noticed that it does help with the tightness in my glutes and hamstrings.
cheryl says
Biscuit, please!
Elena says
Bagel for sure! Not a huge biscuit fan.
I don’t foam roll enough…………I’m OK about stretching though!
I haven’t been to the doctor since last June . I did all my appointments right before we moved. Guess it’s time to find a doctor in Atlanta now that the one year check up time is coming!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Yes on the foam rolling! I have one of those RumbleRollers with the big rivets, and it hurts so good. I use it a few times a week to loosen up. And I think I’d go with biscuit or bagel, but definitely not English Muffin. 🙂
Meghan @ GetOffYourButtAndRun says
I love to foam roll. I try to use at least 3 times a week. For tougher areas I’ll use The Stick to get at those nasty knots.
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
Oh man I love all three. It depends on what mood I am in. There’s definitely something about a warm, buttery biscuit.
My foam roller moves all around the living room but never actually under me to do what it is supposed to. Right now it is chillin under my dining room table. I think it’s taking a nap so I’m not going to wake it up.
runeatrepeat says
Ha! I keep mine out all the time as a ‘reminder’ but really don’t use it enough…
Nona @ RunningHigh says
I’d much rather have an English muffin! I’m not much of a biscuit fan. Weird I know.
I try to foam roll at least once a week. It’s not nearly as much as I should, but at least I get it done!
Liz says
Omg. Biscuit 100%. Multiple biscuits, preferably.
I do foam roll, or I did, when I was marathon training. I should definitely do it more even if I don’t have those really long runs anymore!
Last time I saw the doc was last week because I’m preggo (hence the multiple biscuits) and they like to see you every month. And yet even that much isn’t enough to answer all my questions/calm my weird anxieties. They did tell me I’m still good to run! Although, I keep it at a jog/walk lately….
Brooke@runningonchange says
I do foam roll but only for three or so minutes at a time, How long should each foam rolling session be? I have always been curious about that. I love biscuits but I am picky about them so if I can’t find the ones I really love then I go with a bagel.
Charlotte says
I recently started foam rolling and it hurts so good I do it at least once per week.
Flower says
Biscuits and by all means, you really need bacon with the egg and cheese, it’s just so yum!
I foam roll every day. I have bad hips and sciatica so it’s sort of a staple in my routine.
And by doctor, do you mean an actual doctor or Doctor Google, because I visit Doctor Google on the reg but the actual doctor scares me and I only go when I absolutely, positively have to which is usually once a year.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I foam roll so much lately. I would choose biscuit but after eating lots of them i would probably down grade to the English muffin. Lol.
I have been going to a chiro for my knee and I will see him again on Friday. I also saw an orthopedist last month to see what i did to my shoulder. I’m currently going to physical therapy for that. I am accident prone. 🙁
Kelsie says
Biscuit all the way! With butter, or jam, or both. ORRRR gravy 🙂
I actually went to the doctor today too – I have this weird bump inside my middle finger. It came out of nowhere so I went to get it checked out. She wasn’t very helpful though…
Krys says
I’m drooling lol
