This Is Why You’re Fat–Costco Edition

24 Jul

Hello! This morning I woke up and was on a mission for pancakes. Oddly, this week I didn’t have french toast every day so I think I had a syrup deficiency. banana pancakes

I must admit I was inspired by Jack Johnson’s Banana Pancake song as it’s on my playlist and I heard it at mile 11 yesterday. Yeah, running that long will make you crave anything – but especially pancakes!

I used my go-to pancake recipe and cut banana pieces into it after I poured it into the skillet. IMG_6363 (800x533)

Then, I slathered sunflower seed butter like I only have 24 hours to live and need to finish the jar tonight.IMG_6366 (800x533)

But then something tragic happened!!!

I dropped my sunflower seed buttered fork. #Fail.IMG_6359 (800x533)

I had to console myself with a few (new) forkfuls out of the jar. And all was okay again.

Since Ben likes old school pancakes and I wasn’t about to make 2 batches I made him coconut encrusted French Toast.coconut french toast

Then, I headed off to Zumba. I’m addicted and loving it Smile

Post-Zumba snack = appleapple and couponing

I had grocery shopping on the agenda for today, but know better than to go while hungry so I made lunch first. These Quorn Naked Chik’n Cutlets were also on clearance a while back. quorn naked cutlets

quorn chikn nuggets

The Naked ones are totally not as good and the chicken nugget style ones. Not.even.close.

I made a big ol’ chicken salad with both kinds and peanut dressing. This is going to be my lunch for the whole week because I’m also obsessed with this. Yep, Zumba and chicken salads are all I want for Christmas, Valentines, Arbor day…IMG_6392 (800x600)

I randomly found this piece of chocolate with the almond slivers that I put on my salad. It ended up being dessert as I thought a chocolate crouton was ridiculous even for me.IMG_6397 (800x600)

Then, I headed to my third Happiest Place on Earth (after the lands of Disney and Yogurt) = Costco!

Last week Ben came with me to Costco and I tried to get him to get a Berry Sundae, but he wasn’t biting. Plus, I’ve been craving a churro for weeks (since my brother and I had a very lengthy discussion on what makes a ‘good churro’).

I realized I wanted the sundae and a churro and tried to decide on one. Nope.

I wanted both, so I got them. Both. By myself.IMG_6398 (600x800)

And this is why you’re I’m fat …IMG_6402 (600x800)

If you want to see some ridic food porn, check out the blog This Is Why You’re Fat. (That’s where I got the phrase from not from my own low self esteem. Trust.)image

And if the phrase “This is why you’re fat” offends you check out www.don’ttakemyblogsoseriously.com.

So yeah, I also got a churro. Tragic, right? Not really because I got Oxygen magazine so I’ll learn a few new workout moves to help work it off. At least in theory???IMG_6403 (600x800)

I drove home while contemplating a cereal recipe called “Cinnamon Churro Crunch” that would be like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but 199x better if that’s possible.IMG_6409 (600x800)

In all seriousness I ate a little more than half the churro and savored every bite. Loved it. I had a few bites, but didn’t end up being the biggest fan of the sundae and brought it home for Ben. I’ll probably polish off the churro later if Ben doesn’t get it first. image

I feel like my inner Intuitive Eater is satisfied and I’m happy.

Tomorrow is super busy for me so I’m glad I have Sunday Set Up to figure it out!

Exercise:

  • Sunday: Zumba
  • Monday: 4 miles and Abs
  • Tuesday: 8 miles with 5 at MP
  • Wednesday: 5 miles with 3 at Tempo
  • Thursday: Strength and Abs
  • Friday: 8 miles and Zumba?
  • Saturday: 18 miles

Eats:

  • Plan meals and snacks in the morning (I’m super busy this week!)
  • Track food  (I’m eating what I want, but want to be accountable just the same)
  • Get in bed by 9:30pm to wind down and read

Costco’s Berry Sundaes are my favourite! They’re not nearly as good at the Costco’s in Canada though, so I always convince my mom to share one with me when we make a trip to Washington, otherwise I know I’ll eat the whole thing in 5 seconds flat.
I didn’t even know Costco sold Churro’s! Must be because my eyes are always on the sundaes. I’ll have to try one out next time I’m there!

Also, love your blog! I discovered you from A Domestic Wannabe’s blog the other week. You inspired me to go try zumba out. My first class is tomorrow, can’t wait! 🙂

I made banana pancakes yesterday and definitely played that song during the process. It’s only natural. 😉

So true story, I haven’t eaten fast food in years, but the Berry Frosty from Wendy’s is so tempting!!! That sundae looks similar.

Costco churros are seriously impressive. It’s probably a good thing we our Sam’s Club members and Costco is 45 minutes. If you succeed at the 9:30 bedtime this week I want to know how! I always tell myself I need to go to bed earlier and it just doesn’t happen. Need more hours in the day!

I ALWAYS take at least one rest day a week. Today was my rest day – Zumba isn’t working out to me, I feel like it’s equal to taking a walk.

I love costco and walking around for all the samples. I also love the baked goods area but never actually get anything because I don’t need 12 muffins the size of my head! When my family comes for Christmas we get it and we finish it off pretty fast with a bunch of people here. I’ve never tried their fro yo sundae thing. I think it’s because I like to be able to have my own portion, which is why I love frozen yogurt places (but I’m really there for the toppings)!
