Trader Joe’s Spring Food Finds!

What Runners Eat

18 Mar

Hello! After a morning of work I needed a break from the computer and a few essentials from Trader Joe’s. I grabbed my favorites and spotted a few NEW delicious looking items just in time for Spring.

First – the daffodils I mentioned before are the BEST. They bring a little sunshine to the room for only $1.50 a bunch! (I bought two bunches for this medium sized vase.)

Coconut Pancakes – favorite part of this is you only need to add water.

Kale Sprouts – this is a cross between a brussel sprout and kale. I have a lot of other veggies at home so I didn’t get these kale sprouts this time, but I need to try this soon!

I think they have these Apple Blossoms year round, but wanted to mention them because they look exactly like the dessert I had the other night.

Organic Sriracha BBQ sauce – I’m hesitant about this one even though I LOVE SRIRACHA because TJ’s version of Sriracha didn’t live up to my tastebuds’ expectations. Have you tried this?

Blarney Scone aka Irish Soda bread. Get this and make my French Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

Organic Coconut is necessary to make my Bunny Cake for Easter!

It’s also the main ingredient for Bird’s Nests.

Question: Do you like coconut?

Have you tried any of these products? The Sriracha BBQ sauce?

We made the Toasted Coconut Pancakes last week. They are so delish!! We add protein powder to a second batch and they came out great too!

Love coconut milk, coconut water, coconut flour, but NOT flaked coconut. It’s a texture thing I think. I might try those coconut chips covered in chocolate, but I wish they would sample them so I don’t need to risk the $$. 🙂

I found the chocolate covered coconut chips I was eating the other day at the 99.

I do not like coconut but I can eat it when it is subtle and is not the main flavor of something. I went to Whole Foods yesterday and almost started my weekly ritual of buying myself flowers, but I decided against it. I think I will wait until it warms up just a little more.

I wish we had a Trader Joe’s in Toronto…….Everything always looks so good!
I LOVE anything coconut. Probably to the point it is weird (sometimes I consider tasting my suntan lotions…..jk). Making some homemade coconut butter today after my run! Yum

I LOVE coconut! Especially coconut oil.. which coincidentally I always get at Trader Joe’s because it is 100% organic. I use it for cooking and as a hair treatment. Seriously, it’s a life changer!!

Also, I love Trader Joe’s flowers! They always have the best arrangements and they are so affordable. Makes me excited for spring 🙂

I don’t really care for coconut unless it’s on a Chick-o-Stick (PB coconut candy), or on shrimp. It’s really good on shrimp. 🙂 I might need to check my local TJ’s for the Blarney Scone for my mom, though. She loves a good pun. Or a bad pun.

They never had the unsweetened coconut at TJs. At least not here in NJ. I’m going to have to get over there.
    I looooooove coconut.

Yes! I’ve tried the BBQ Siracha – I put it on our wings for the Superbowl and it was amazinggggg. They weren’t overly spicy, they had a kick, but the sweetness from the BBQ sauce helped balance it out. They were soo good, you have to pick it up!

Also coconut pancake mix….I need now.

Coconut is fab – do you have Bounty Bars in the States? Gooey coconut in chocolate. I’m loving the Blarney scones. I’m a bit obsessed with baking break at the moment. Had my first MAJOR bread fail yesterday. It came out looking like an armadillo! Have a good day.

Yes, we have Bounty Bars but they are not as common. Almond Joy or Mounds Bars are the same but just go by a different name. While over seas, I loved Bounty Bars but never really like Almond Joy or Mounds Bars… weird.

Oh man. Just today I was in TJs with my kids and they had chicken nugget samples out. I gave one to my 3 year old and he started freaking out and crying – turns out they were doused in the sriracha BBQ sauce! I felt sooo bad! It is pretty hot. Heheh.

My Coworker today was just telling me how much she hated Brussels sprouts and kale so I had to send her a photo of the kale sprouts! Her new favorite 😉

I love coconut! I’ve really developed a taste for it over the last couple of years, and sometimes now, I even CHOOSE to eat the mini Bounties in a box of Cadbury favourites (as opposed to previously eating them because they were chocolate, but usually leaving them until last).

I think we should all sign a petition to get Trader Joe’s out to Australia. Are you all in? Yes? Thanks!

I like coconut. I definitely need to use it more. We are supposed to be getting a Trader Joe’s near us soon. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it isn’t another rumor. I think I may have to follow your lead and get some fresh flowers though. I am 100% ready for spring!

I’m usually not a coconut person but recently found some dark chocolate covered coconut chips that are amazing.
