Hi! I have a great vlog today on how I motivate myself to run. But first, the winner of the cat giveaway is…
ME! It was an April Fool’s joke
Last year I got a Run Eat Repeat tattoo!
But I feel like the BEST April Fool’s Joke was my Sriracha Diet. Mostly because I’m legit on it…
How do I Motivate myself to Run VLOG
1. Do you use gus on long runs or just for race day?
2. How do you motivate yourself to run or deal with a bad run?
Nate says
I make fun of myself while running. It keeps me sane. I literally started a blog just to mock my own efforts for marathon training. So far, so good!
Julie says
“Don’t look down in the porta potty”…best advice EVER!!! lol
Patricia says
I agree that you should never try anything new on race day!
I would love to make a vlog soon! Can you please share vlogging tips? 🙂 I’m kinda worried about poor audio quality and how to get proper lighting.
Are you still giving Vegas away? I hope he ends up in a nice and loving home!!

You are truly a master of April Fools jokes!
Joan Dukore says
whew! So glad that was an April Fools joke. You got me.
Melissa Sternenberg says
The easiest way for me to get motivated is to add new songs to my playlist!! <3
The way you tease your kitty is the greatest! So cute!

I didn’t think you’d give him away! He’s the star (next to you) in your post! Happy to see this was an April 1 joke.
Stephanie says
I always give myself a goal to get to on days I am not feeling motivated. I will set a time, calorie burn, distance, etcetera. If I am still not feeling it I let it go, but generally I find my motivation.

I’d love to hear how your running has progressed through the years. For example, what your very first few runs were like. What was the first month like? How long were you able to run continuously when you started? How many days a week did you start with and how you progressed to doing 5, 8, 10 + miles. How /when did you decide to do your first 5K, 10K, half marathon and full marathon?

I Like your personality through your videos! Sure down to earth and chill, I can see myself hanging out with you!
Shannon in Tustin says
When I have a crappy run I remind myself of the good ones and also that I am still lapping everyone on the couch! And as far as getting out the door: I recall how crappy I feel and down on myself when I skip a run or workout. Nothing worse than that! Unless I need a legit rest day, the workout is always a better option. Even if it isn’t my “best” workout.
I rarely have anything to eat on runs anymore. I can knock out 13.1 without any blocks or gels or anything. Not training for anything longer at this point so I don’t think much about that.
Elena says
agree with you on skipping! no matter how hard it is to get started I have NEVER regret a run – no matter how “bad” it was 🙂
Rachel says
So glad Vegas gets to stay with you! We’d miss him way too much on the blog 😉
Thanks for all the tips! A lot of times, reading blogs like yours is what keeps me motivated! It reminds me of the joy of running like you talked about. So thanks!

The Sriracha diet one was my fave 🙂 I’m still on it!
Soon are you moving? Inquiring minds (or Enquiring?) want to know 😉
I rarely use GU anymore. Occasionally cliff blocks on long runs – or jelly beans.
I deal with a bad run by walking 🙂 But I’m not currently training for anything so it’s OK!
