Hello and Happy Wednesday!
It doesn’t feel like Wed. at all, so I had to mention it in hopes that my brain will recognize what’s going on.
Since I ran 13 yesterday I made myself take a day off of running. I started to do Oxygen magazine’s latest “stay in slim down” workout, but only did 2 sets before deciding to take a walk while reading on my phone. I’m going to finish 2 more sets later so I’m not a complete quitter. Only half of one.
I walked 4 miles round trip to Dunkin Donuts. I slow down near bodies of water to say hello to the manatees.
Dear Manatees,
I love you. Can I see you before I leave Florida?
Thanks,
Monica
Speaking of desperate love letters… I saw this Most Awkward Facebook Pick Up Lines and had a good lil’ laugh.
Ask a Monican on dating – The other day I joked about writing a dating advice column and a surprising number of you thought it would be a good idea. Deal! Well, I’m always here to give advice (because I’m bossy) – so if you have a dating question email me at runeatrepeat at gmail dot com. I’ll share my thoughts and let RER readers weigh in with advice too. (I would keep your info anonymous.)
When I got back there was bacon and cinnamon rolls. Um que la.
Now I’m trying to get caught up with work and stuff with Nuun and my trusty new banana sidekick from New Year’s Eve by my side.
Directly behind me is the deck, I’m tempted to move my computer out there soon…
It’s the first Wednesday of 2013 so I thought I’d share the best diets of 2012 for Weight Loss Wednesday.
Diets in Review compiled a list of the Best Diets of 2012. WW is #1, but there are a lot of other options if counting points isn’t your thing. Jillian Michaels was named the top workout – not sure if that’s her 90 plan or what.
Shape Magazine shared the top 10 most searched diets.
Question: Are you back to the real world of school or work or life today?
Got a question for this Monican?
Amber K says
This whole week feels off to me. I am hoping to make 2013 more about fun and less about worrying about life in general.
Sue says
Nope! It’s tough getting back to work mode after a 3-week lay off. Anyone with tips, suggestions etc? Send them my way!
Carissa says
Happy new year!!!! Hope you’re enjoying our fun Florida weather!
Jack Sh*t says
Hey, I’m a half-quitter, too. We should form a club!
Lily Fluffbottom says
I am back at work and I wish I was home or doing anything else. Mostly I wish I had cleaned my house this weekend instead of laying around instead but laying around was awesome so I’m not complaining.
Jac @ Challenged & Running in the Bike Lane says
I’m back to work, in fact, haven’t had much time off over the holidays at all. Kinda glad the rest of the world is getting back to normal so I don’t feel so lonely!! 🙂
Nicole says
I know you were just sharing the list, but I can’t be the only one who thinks about 75% of it was crap. I can attest to WW. I did that and it worked. But I got tired of counting points (or calories for that matter). Now I focus on cutting out mindless snacking, junk and just eating a balanced diet. Shakes, injections, supplements. Everyone is trying to sell something other than the truth. Eat better. Eat less. Move more.

Alright, i just treated myself to a digital subscription of Oxygen (on my iPad) for the new year. I’m gonna try out that “Stay in Slim Down” workout.
My resolutions include
1. drinking more water.
2. doing some sort of strength training twice a week at home for 30 minutes or more (in conjunction with prime time TV and throwing the tennis ball for my dog so i can kill 3 stones with 1 bird=).
3. make someone laugh at least once a day.
Tawny says
Yes back to work after a week and a half off, it’s kinda lamesauce! Wish I had taken the rest of this week off. Oh well gotta make that paper!
Susan says
Back to the “real world” today and it started with being only 9 degrees outside! BLEH 🙁
runeatrepeat says
Brrr! Stay warm 🙂
Allison says
I am back at work today. Booooo
Jodea @ chillichocolatelove says
Back in the real world and so not ready!
Weight Watchers definitely worked for me in the past, but I got fed up of counting and found it too obsessive for my tendencies… I have to say I love the Paleo way of eating as it makes me feel great, but I still have occasional treats. And Jillian will always be number one for me in terms of fitness!
Michele says
Are there any half mary training plans you recommend/ ways to PR? I’m looking for a good PR in 2013!
Happier Heather says
I was SO bummed out when I was only able to spot a tip of a manatee flipper when one rolled under the water while visiting Florida. I really wanted to see one of their faces pop out of the water. Maybe someday…
Considering I’ve seen both dolphins and whales in the wild, I’m probably being selfish by want to see a manatee, too.
TorontoRunner says
LOL – I really did laugh out loud at that pick up line. haha!
I’m a fan of JM workouts! Getting yelled by her is my way of changing it up once in a while!
Bri @ Back to Bliss says
I lost all of my weight with Weight Watchers five years ago & went back to it after I had my daughter 5 months ago. The program has changed a bit over the years but it still works. It’s definitely worth the investment if you’re serious about weight loss!
I’m back at school today & drank just as much Dunkin as you today!
Amy says
No school until Monday! I have only run ONE mile since 2013 began! 🙁
Kelly @ Running to Healthy says
I’m still living in fantasyland–no work until Monday! Being a teacher has its perks:-)
Angela @ Honey, I Shrunk the Mom says
Got back on my healthy habit train on NYE. Whoop! Hubby is back to work today but the kids are out until Monday. Yay! I love having my family at home, although since I work from home and have a hard time getting “work” done when the family is home. I just want to be lazy and hang out with them. 🙂 I love when they are here but I’m kind of ready to get back into the routine of everyday life and get caught up again. Happy New Year to you!
Sabrina says
I was back to work yesterday. And I didn’t like it one bit. Today will be an even longer day. Man, I sure can’t wait to get out of retail.
There is one diet on there I’d never even heard of. The pink diet? Anyways, many of these “top diets” all seem like fads to me. They don’t actually provide life long results and healthiness. What do you think?
runeatrepeat says
I don’t think WW is a fad, but basically think it’s like calorie counting but with points. I agree that fad diets aren’t good for long term.
Sabrina says
I don’t think WW is a fad either. In fact, I have considered joining several times. I love many of Jillian’s workouts too. I didn’t mean to imply the links you posted were showcasing fad diets, but many magazines and online articles I have read this past week are trying to sell every diet under the sun, several of which I’ve never heard of.
Abby @ Change of Pace says
I love manatees, too! When we were at Sea World in Florida a couple years ago, we kept going back to watch them! (I think they are part of a program where Sea World takes in injured ones. Lots had propeller scars.)
I’m definitely back to the real world of work today, but I was here Thursday, Friday, and Monday too. At least it gets me back to healthier eating!
I definitely say you work on the deck!
Tabatha Rhodes says
Hah! I totally did not realize you were joking about your dating advice column. I still think it’s a fabulous idea!!
