Green Giant Seasoned Steamers

Uncategorized

22 Oct

I am drowning over here. I don’t know how people with kids, actual social lives and/or a long commute do it because between work, my recent travels and RER I feel like I am constantly behind on everything. My “type C” and high anxiety personality don’t help matters either <- bad combo.

But, I did successfully get through a packed day of work, emails, conference calls and even managed to catch up with a friend during a walk after work.

Actually, I walked to Target to pick up something fast and easy for dinner. Tip of the year: Walk to Target, it prevents buying $100 worth of stuff.

On the way over I decided to make omelets and pair it with some easy veggies. I bought this Green Giant Seasoned Steamers bag of broccoli the company asked me to review. They have six different varieties, but my store only had these and potatoes.

This meal came together in minutes! I made an omelet with onions and jalapeño cheddar, heated some beans from Sunday and served it up with the broccoli.

I loved that it was super easy to make! I thought the broccoli was a little soft since I prefer veggies with a little bit of a bite left in them. but, they were seasoned well (I add salt to everything and didn’t need to for these). I enjoyed the broccoli, but am now on the hunt for their brussel sprouts. Those always take me such a long time to cook – I would love a quick way to make them for dinner!

The bag has 4 servings – 3 for me, 1 for Ben.

Now I’m sipping on some hot tea and enjoying some of my 8 lb. chocolate egg. I gave my mom and brother each a baggie of it and we still have plenty left!hot tea and chocolate

Question: Do you have dessert or something after dinner?

I have been waiting for months for it to be cool enough for hot tea and chocolate! It feels all warm and cozy Smile

There’s no doubt about it; dessert is essential!

      Everyone’s a critic!

I find myself reaching for the frozen veg for me and the kids, just because we don’t have a lot of great produce in our area (way the eff up north).

But what really caught my eye in this post was the jalapeno cheddar in your eggs. I just picked up a package of it yesterday for breakfast sandwiches – had never seen it before. Can’t wait to try it, as I’m a huge fan of pepper jack cheese.

Ha! I know, not exactly thorough.
I didn’t want to hit people over the head with a review of frozen veggies, I’m sure we’ve all had something similar before. Let me know if you do have any questions though 🙂

I’ve tried to quit eating after dinner, but sometimes I have a handful of cereal or something. My dessert comes between the hours of 4 and 7 while I’m waiting for my husband to come home from work. I do SO well while I’m at work all day and then I get home and everything goes to shit.

I try not to eat after dinner and even pushed dinner a little later to help with that. But sometimes I do eat a piece of fruit or a few bites of ice cream.

I hear ya, I am often overwhelmed. After a full 10 hours day I just want to do nothing after work to forget it all. I don’t know how people with kids do it. Sometimes my dogs overwhelm me. haha.

I agree about walking to Target, otherwise it is impossible to walk out without spending at least $100

I used to have coffee with a cookie or something, though I stopped coffee lately so I sometimes get a shake if I do a workout, else nothing

Call me crazy, but what about just steaming some fresh broccoli? The ingredient list on that package is scary. Fresh broccoli only has one ingredient.

I was kind of bummed I had to come into the actual comments to see your quasi-opinion of the product. I assume, since GG paid you for a review, they wanted more than for you to say “I bought this, I ate it, it has 4 servings.” Don’t you think you should edit the post a bit to include your actual opinion of the product? How was the price? How was the flavor? Would you buy it again? What are the other options??

I scored $1.00 coupon right on the bag so it was about $2.65 for it. I think without the coupon it’s a bit pricey!
I liked it it, but thought the brocs were a little soggy. I like al dente veggies. They also have brussel sprouts – I would definitely want to try those since I love them and think they take longer to make.

I no longer eat things with “natural flavoring” as I am unsure what it is. Thought you might like this definition…“Natural” can run the gamut from bugs to beaver butts.

      What is Type C?

      Any other good broc recipes?

Any what do you think about Joe Gorga as a Chippendale?

Type C is sometimes less anal than type B and sometimes a bad word 🙂

I am not really into the Gorga type guy, but I would have paid to see him at Chippendales 🙂

My sweet tooth definitely kicks in after dinner. Chocolate in some form (or candy…right now it’s candy corn) is needed most days of the week!

      Mmmm, omelette. Delicious.

I’m a salt fiend so I’ll typically go for something salty after dinner – toast with peanut butter (salted, because I’m disgusting).

I could go for peanut butter toast with extra salt, I’m gross.
