Happy Monday! Last night’s plans totally fell apart (story for another day), but I did get to watch Breaking Bad – so it turned out for the best. Sorta, ‘cause watching BB is giving me anxiety issues.
This morning I did a 7 mile run. Not sure if the Garmin is right since I randomly lost satellite reception for a bit?
Breakfast starred Sriracha per usual. I was telling my mom that I go through a bottle every 2 weeks at this point. Neither one of us could really tell if I was exaggerating.
From Food Beast – 7 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Sriracha
Love that! Bonus: I am pronouncing it correctly.
And the factory is kinda close to my mom’s house so I might just show up one day and swim in it.

Good. Back to the shoes…
I’ve known about Altra shoes for a while now. I am a fan of minimalist shoes, but haven’t tried a ‘zero drop’ shoe yet.
Most shoes have a higher heel so your body naturally steps heel first when running to take advantage of that cushion. Running barefoot, without that cushion would make you more likely to step on your forefoot. (This is a very simplified way to explain it. It’s science.)
But, I’m not Tarahuamara enough to go full on barefoot, so I love that this is a shoe based on that principle.
I have the Altra “The One” model. It is super light weight – 6.4 oz, but gives a good cushion (magic?). I love that there is a wide toe box too.
My usual shoes are already pretty light weight, so this wasn’t a difficult transition for me. But, I am still going to transition slowly into using them.
It is very important when you start wearing a new kind of shoes to transition and listen to your body. So, start with shorter distances and see how it goes.
Question: Are you going to come out to Pennsylvania and run with me?
Have you had your dose of Sriracha today?
Disclaimer: I received these shoes and am running the RW Half through a partnership with Runner’s World and Altra. All opinions are my own.

I am coming to run the 10K with my bestie. She’s trying to get back into running so I will be her personal running cheerleader. My favorite way to eat siracha is mixed with just a little ketchup to dip fries into. I put it on everything, and proud momma moment, my 2 year old daughter has started eating it to.Thats mommy daughter bonding at its best..lol.

I love both my Vibrams (running) and Merrell (gym work). Still no guts to go BF!

I’m running the RW Hat Trick – have been signed up since the day registration opened!!! – and can’t wait to bump into some of my favorite running bloggers around the expo. I’ll be the one who doesn’t introduce herself because introducing yourself to people you only know on the internet is, like, SOOOO embarrassing.
Anyway, I also have Altras. I have only worn them very occasionally and for short runs but I’m planning to try to transition more thoroughly during the winter when I don’t have any races. Looking forward to hearing how you like them.
runeatrepeat says
Awww! C’mon introduce yourself 🙂
Kate says
Ha! Okay, if I see you I’ll do it. And I will try to make the whole experience as awkward as possible for all of us. 🙂

Yay, RW festival!! I am planning to meet up with kristin s., so hopefully I will get to meet you too!!! 🙂 Have you signed up for seminars yet?? I am getting so super excited for the race weekend!!!

Breaking Bad gives me horrible anxiety!! I’m only on episode 4 of season 1 because 1 episode makes me sweat through my sheets. Not kidding.
A wicked good sauce you can make with sriracha and thin it out to use as a spicy salad dressing or just as a dip without thinning it is: sriracha, yellow mustard & stevia. No measurements, I just squirt, mix and taste. So good.

BB last night was crazy. Do you follow Aaron Paul (Jesse) on twitter? He’s pretty funny.
runeatrepeat says
I think I do, I need to check. I can’t believe it’s almost over!

I’m a huge Altra fan right now. Their Lone Peak 1.5 trail shoes are the best. I need a pair of the The One’s. I still feel Newtons are faster on the road, I also run in their Instincts, they are great for training runs and foot feel. They really go great with ChiRunning
runeatrepeat says
I need to try the Newts to compare!

I’m a tapatio kind of girl… just can’t shake it.

Interesting concept that those shoes have.. I do love my Asics, but wouldn’t mind giving those a try. And we actually don’t have any Sriracha in the house! I do like it, but prefer other Asian hot sauces instead.

i’m a big fan of my brooks, but those zero drop running shoes look awesome!
whoa, i had no idea the sriracha factory was so close (i live in pasadena!). i could literally run to the sriracha factory… haha maybe i’ll do that sometime 😉
runeatrepeat says
I’ll go with you!

and then eat watermelon after? deal! 🙂
Annie @ Annie Get Your Run says
I’ll be running the Gettysburg Half that day instead…my first time! Hopefully the hills don’t kill me.
Kailin @ Logs and Thoughts says
I wish I could do the RW Hat Trick race. I have family in the Bethlehem area, but that race always falls around the same time as the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. When I weigh Pennsylvania against Kona, HAWAII always wins out big time. Maybe one year I’ll stay state-side and run…
Caitlin @ RunMimsie says
I would love to come to Pennsylvania and run with you…but I’m going to be running the international half marathon in Detroit that day! Have you ever done that one?
Sarah G. says
Umm Breaking Bad was totally out of control last night. OUT. OF. CONTROL.

I love the look of those trainers: great colour! Not sure how I’d cope with zero drop- I have Nike Free Runs +5s, but that’s as low as I go!
Ashley @ OurPersonalRecords says
Umm can we talk about BB??? I haven’t spoken to anyone today without first asking if they watched last night. I woke up at 4:00 am having dreams of shoot-outs and violence, so I’m completely with you regarding the anxiety.
Jojo @ RunFastEatLots says
Haven’t had my daily dose of sriracha yet. I did have some yesterday with my wontons 😛
I just came home from Philly, after rocking it at the RnR Philly Half. I wish I could run in the RW race!
Kira @cyclingthrough.com says
Love the colour! Very nice!

I too go through a bottle of Sriracha in about two weeks!! Soo glad I am not alone. But how can you not?!! It really is wonderful:)
Kelly @ Kelly Runs for Food says
I put sriracha on everything too! It seriously goes with anything.

sriracha errrrday
betty (the sweaty betty) says
as I sit here and eat my lunch while reading this blog, I have sriracha on my fish and asparagus!

Sriracha and me have a special relationship. My husband (mostly) understands.
But now that I see sriracha can dance, he may not.
Kari @ KeepingupwithKarielle says
Those shoes are super cute! I love how bright they are…I wish so bad I was bold enough to wear bright tennis shoes to work to match my scrubs, but I always end up shoe shopping…and end up buying something basic that 99% of the time involved pink and gray. Love them and maybe soon I can try some shoes like those out, they sound really awesome!
Amy @ crazysweatymommy says
Cholula everyday! Thankfully Costco sells a 2 pack!

I wear Altra Torins! They did take a little getting used to (more stress on your calves) but I’ve loved my pair.
