Hello! I just ran the Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland and am still flying high from all the fun! Here is my quick lil recap…

First, my best friend is a mom and wanted to hang out for Mother’s Day. So, she headed to my place last night and we did dinner and drinks.

We also made strawberry jello shots – in a strawberry. YES.
And stayed out way way too late. Midnight munchies called for Taco Bell. So, I was eating Taco Bell at 12am the night before a half marathon with a 3:30am wake up call. NOT okay Monican, you’re grounded.

#NoRegrets #Yes #MaybeInTheMorning
Then, I very very reluctantly set my alarm and got ready for bed.
I woke up a few minutes before my alarm because I was so nervous about missing it! And I put on my Tinkerbell Running Costume. I really scored with this costume – it was super easy to throw together (more on that soon).

Getting to Disneyland and the Mickey and Friends parking structure was pretty easy – no traffic on the freeway, traffic but no overflow on the streets.
Boo = Parking was $$$
Pre-race: Plenty of porta-potties at different locations. A lot of volunteers trying to keep it organized. Corrals were clearly marked.

Race: Love the course. We ran into California Adventure and then into Disneyland. One of the highlights is always running down Main Street to the Castle.
It is magical.

Boo = The 5:30am start ‘beats the heat’ but is super super early.
I wanted to take pictures with the characters but there weren’t a lot of them. I did stop at the castle and with Chip and Dale but for some reason the cast member that took my Chip and Dale pic didn’t click the right thing and I don’t have one.
I don’t judge them though because I pressed something weird on my phone and accidentally put it in Black and White mode!

There weren’t a lot of spectators outside of the parks and Downtown Disney. But I feel like Run Disney runners are so happy and social it was fine. People made friends, took pictures and enjoyed the race.

This “Free Hook Bumps” sign was pretty fun!

And this is totally my favorite.

Overall: I love Run Disney races. Love. They really are fun and magical. It seems like the majority of runners are out there just to have fun and enjoy it. It’s well organized and a good time. The end.

Post race pancakes and tons of coffee.

Question: What was the BEST thing you did this weekend?
What was the BEST thing you ate?
Me: Run. Eat = those pancakes.
That second sign was also one of my favorites. I told the woman holding it I felt the same way, I was ready for a drink!
I love your outfit!
I did the Pixie Dust challenge – definitely not a race series for PRs because of all the great photo ops. I loved seeing the group of red hat society ladies, and the Free Hook Bumps guy was great, too. I love running Disney races.
I ran the Tinkerbell Half this weekend too!! It was my first half marathon EVER and I had so much fun! Already looking for my next race!
I ran the Tinkerbell Half marathon too! Such a fun time…the Red Hat Ladies were awesome!!
I’ve (embarrassingly) run 5 Disney races…all on the same course in Orlando. They are fun but the early start time AND expensive entry fee are NOT fun. I would like to run one in California thought!
I can’t wait to run another Run Disney race! I did one a year and a half ago and have been itching to do another one ever since! I can’t wait to read about how you came up with your costume because it’s adorable!
I was there too!
We totally want to do a race in a tutu! The Disney races seem like a lot of fun!
Gosh you look more put together running a half marathon than I did at my prom!
Ha! This made me laugh a little 🙂
Congratulations! I’m running in Run Disney’s Captain America 10K in November and now I definitely want to do their Tinker Bell half!
Best thing I ate this weekend was my husband’s vanilla on vanilla birthday cake.
That Tinkerbell outfit is adorable!!
I ran an easy 10k as part of my half-marathon training plan. And it was actually easy! I was amazed. I have such a runner’s high right now. Sad that today is rest day!
I ran the Pixie Dust challenge-10k and half and had such a blast. they had so many more characters out this year which was nice, I had 15 photo stops for the 10k and 12 for the half.
Wow – I don’t think I could run a half after strawberry shots and 3 hours sleep! You are super-human!
I like the strawberry shot idea tho……………filing that away for future use:)
What an awesome medal! Looks like it was a great race!
Best thing I did all weekend … Slept for TEN hours Saturday night 🙂
Best thing I ate all weekend … Frozen yogurt date w/ my mom! Gotta love Menchie’s.
I love Disney races more than anything! Everyone is just in such a good mood (usually).
Love Disney races! Looks like you had a great time esp for running on three hours of sleep. You are a machine!
I had a PR at a 5K Saturday! I can tell you are young because there is no way I could run a 1/2 after staying up late and having cocktails. I used to do that in my 20s, so do it now while you can:) I had my favorite thing at Crazy bowls and wraps, the jalapeno cilantro chicken wrap then to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream. Happy Mother’s Day to me.
Congratulations!!! Crazy bowls is the name of the place?! Sounds fun!
Super cute costume. Best thing I ate this weekend was a massive, fresh, authentic French chocolate croissant. : )
Best thing: I did not overeat on Mother’s Day and best thing I ate was Outback’s Salmon and a Skinny Martini 🙂
I spent the day on Saturday celebrating my niece’s 15th birthday! We shopped and ate sushi….her favorite 2 things =)
which leads me to best thing I ate..we went to a bakery that’s famous for their cookie shots…a warm chocolate chip cookie shot glass with melted chocolate at the bottom of the “glass” and then they fill it with milk. It was so good!
You always make such great fun costumes for your disney races.
I don’t even know what to say to that, but I want one (or three)!
Nice outfit! I really like it, LOL! I really hope there would be an event like that in my country, pretty sure it would fun as hell 🙂 Hope you had a good run!
I did the Tinkerbell Half this year too! My best friend and I had a blast running it! I was wondering if you would be there too. What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!
Congratulations on your race! How did you like it?
I loved it! The wake up call was a little early, but my friend and I are doing the coast to coast, so now we can check off the first leg. On to the Wine and Dine!
I was there as well! I was keeping my eye out for you but never saw you. The girls and I ran all three races and enjoyed the bling we collected!
Congratulations on the races!!!! Superstar 🙂 Which was your favorite?
It was so foggy and rainy and gross here this weekend that it’s surprising I left the house! Oh, and it was in the 50s. I have a half this weekend and I have been slacking on any kind of training so I ran 6 miles yesterday. That made me feel a little better haha
Super cute outfit for the race. Glad you had a good time. I may have to consider that one. I can’t seem to wrap my head around a flat race course for a full. I hate flat races.
I love flat races!!!
Best thing I did was have my mom and my mother-in-law over for a Mother’s Day BBQ. Best thing I ate was said BBQ food.
I haven’t run any Disney races, but would love to sign up for the Dopey Challenge at Disney World.
I keep thinking about doing the Disney World marathon again, but it’s so far and so far away in the calendar…
Best thing: Relaxing! A new vet school semester just started for me so I’m trying to enjoy time to myself before things get crazy.
Best thing I ate: Blueberry cheesecake smoothie! Nothing like breakfast that tastes like dessert.
I would love love love to do this race. I’m not sure if they do one at Disneyland Paris (or that I could trick my husband into going there, so that I could run a race).
Great outfit!
A Disney Paris race would be so epic!
Ive done one race EVAH 🙂
DIsney half a lifetime ago.
I wanna do another with my daughter….someday
I remember you doing that one!
Congratulations for running the Tinkerbell Half Marathon! I’ve been wanting to run on one of the Disney run but they get sold out fast! Love the medal by the way.
Seems like Disney runs are fun and not really for chasing PRs. Would love to do one one day.
