Two Sandwich Recipes for National Sandwich Day

2 Nov

The post is part of my partnership is Oroweat.

November 3rd is National Sandwich Day!

aint no sandwich like a sandwich party

I don’t know about you, but I eat sandwiches all the time (I’m probably eating one as you read this). So, I thought I should celebrate this very important day in our nation’s history with TWO sandwiches.

Double-fisting sammies. Heck yeah.

The first sandwich recipe was inspired by the delicious mozzarella appetizer I had before the Marine Corps Marathon. You don’t need a lot of ingredients to make an amazing dish.

mozarella and tomato (800x450) (800x450)

The simplicity of good cheese, a fresh tomato and quality balsamic is enough.

Healthy Mozzarella Sandwich Recipe

Make sure you get fancy mozzarella and balsamic or Ina will frown upon your sandwich.

BMT – Basil, Mozzarella and Tomato Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Fresh mozzarella cheese (a lot because you’ll eat some of it while making this)
  • Few basil leaves
  • Tomato
  • balsamic vinegar
  • 2 pieces of Oroweat bread
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Some way to grill it up

Directions: Pile up the BMT ingredients (basil, mozz, tomato) on the bread. Season with S&P and balsamic. Grill. Eat. (I used my Foreman grill, but the usual way works.)

Delicious!

Now it’s time for dessert!

I created this cannoli inspired sandwich as a post-sandwich treat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tb. whipped cream cheese
  • 1 Tb mini chocolate chips
  • 1 sugar packet of your choice
  • 1 tsp. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sandwich thin

Directions: Combine cream cheese, chocolate chips, vanilla extract and sugar. Spread onto one side of the sandwich thin. Smash. Grill. Dust with powdered sugar.

Question: What’s your FAVORITE SANDWICH?

I like tuna or fancy chicken salad with tons of grapes and cranberries and cashews.

Vegan multigrain bread, tofu, shredded carrots, sliced radishes, lettuce, veganase, plain hummus, and probably some pepper. It’s been so long, now I’m totally craving one!

I love sandwhiches!! We are gluten free so we use UDI’S bread. Then my favorite filling for a sandwhich is tuna, pickles, mustard, a little garlic salt, all mixed together. Then some Sharp cheddar cheese and then grill it!! Yummy!!

I love a good turkey sandwich with tons of veggies and avocado. I have learned that too much gluten doesn’t go well with my body, so I don’t eat many sandwiches unless they are on Ezekial bread.

These both look delicious. I have a panini press and never use it; a caprese sounds like a good way to break that! My fave sandwich is anything with turkey+avocado… yum.

Caprese salads (and sandwiches!) are the best. I swear I ate one once a day in Italy last summer. So refreshing.

Ohmygoodness. I want those both. I’ve had basically that first sandwich at a local sandwich shop when I was in college and it’s so good. That cannoli dessert one may be on my must have list this weekend though.

I love a good old fashion Wegmans sub. Nomnomnom.
