I’m sick It started to hit me last night and I left my parent’s house thinking I just ate way too much (which I did). But once I got home I realized it was worse than that. Long story short – it was gross and I’m sick.
Boo.
So today has been rough. I’m just trying to keep it together. I finally got up and out of the house for a Jamba Juice smoothie, that was my go-to move back in the day when I felt like I was getting sick.
I am trying to rally though because I really wanted to share this new Easter tradition! Heathie, my SIL, brought over a ton of confetti eggs. She has been on an all egg diet for weeks to get enough!
Since my niece is still so little and our cousins are doing their own thing we didn’t want to just have a tiny egg hunt for her. So, my mom hid all the eggs and the rest of us went out to find them. Adult Egg Hunt!
For some reason it didn’t occur to me that you’re supposed to find the confetti eggs and smash them on each other’s head. Ha! Hello Monican.
So I was busy hunting when I got smashed and realized It.Is.On!!
(I changed out of my ponte dress so I could be messy.)
My little brother setting off a popper at me…
Don’t worry we smashed open the eggs in our hands and sprinkled some on MJ so she didn’t feel left out.
We were hunting and smashing and throwing. It was so much fun!
No one was safe!
And now we celebrate!

Boo for being sick! Last year on Easter, a bunch of people from church got food poisoning from the potluck. It was absolutely disgusting, and this year, I didn’t even join in the festivities for fear it would happen again (Luckily, my dad took me to McDonald’s before worship team practice, so I wasn’t hangry at all). Being sick on a holiday is the WORST. Fell better!

Now I’m hungry.

I just wanna talk about how cute the little one is…such a sweetie! 🙂
Isn’t being an auntie the BEST??!!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
We don’t really have any family traditions for easter– but our christmas tradition is that the ‘kids’ (aka my brothers, their wives, and me) bake a big brunch with monkey bread (mmmm) for everyone and we eat that then open presents!

Fun stuff! For Christmas, we have lasagna, salad, and garlic bread. It’s a nice, low key meal that no one has to spend a long time prepping or cleaning up, and we get to spend more family time together (usually playing cards or dominos).

Sorry you are sick – hopefully the juice does the trick! I have never heard if confetti eggs but they look like fun and now I need to remember to do that next Easter! We don’t have many Easter traditions, usually we go to church then stuff ourselves with food, then have an egg hunt with the kids in the family. I just had my baby 2 weeks ago so I need to start thinking about fun traditions to do with her!
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
I don’t really have any family traditions. I’m not married and my family lives very far away. When I was a kid? We used to go out to dinner and then hunt for our easter baskets. My Mom was good at hiding too. I mean the spots she chose where ridiculous. Once I cried hysterically after 2 hrs, she put mine in the oven. Boo…
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I don’t think we really have many family traditions. One Easter though I went to an egg hunt when I was like 11 years old and all the kids were much younger than me. Then I found all the eggs before them. My mom made me put them back 🙁
Emily @MyHealthyishLife says
We do that with the eggs every year! So fun! Other than that…coloring eggs and Easter baskets are a tradition.
Ashley @ Kickashmom says
We always take family pictures in the same spot. It’s like the like the only day of the year we do so it’s my favorite part!
Sue says
Take lots of water; instead of heavy meals, settle for broth, porridge and soups. Get well soon Monica.
Cortney says
I read this as “heavy metals” and was so confused haha.
Angela @ HonestlyAngela says
Looks like you had so much fun. What are confetti eggs?
My favorite family tradition was going on a week long camping trip every summer. We don’t do it anymore but it was so fun!
Mary says
Family tradition…. We dont really have many/any, since we all only see each other MAYBE once a year (we all live so far from each other).
Oh!! So when my grandma was alive, she would call during the commercials of jeopardy because she didnt care for commercials, and wanted to talk to us. But as soon as jeopardy was back, shed say “jeopardys on!” And hang up. No goodbye, no nothing. So now, if we need to get off the phone bc we’re in an argument, or getting pulled over, or tired of talking, we say “jeopardys on” and hang up. There are no hard feelings.
Second I guess is adding my brother to things by saying “and JT too!” bc when i was little, my mom would say we were going to the store or school or where ever, and i would say “JT too?” (Mind you he was like, 1 so yeah obv hes coming with) and my mom would say “yes, JT too.” So now every card, vacation, present is “Mom, Dad, and JT too” or “Clare, Mary, and JT too”. Long winded, sorry! Hahah
