Run Eat Repeat

How Many Jars Do You Have?

Running

26 Apr

Hello! How’s it going? This morning I had some nut butter before setting out on a run. I have two open jars right now – PB and Sunflower Seed Butter. The bad thing about having two is that I always end up eating both. Does anyone else have this problem?

I’ll grab a banana, break off a piece and slather a little PB on it. Then, I’ll break off another piece and put some sunflower seed butter on it… repeat. I really should just have one open at a time because I eat twice as much.

This morning’s run was great. I’m listening to the Andy Cohen Diary book. It doesn’t make for fast running, but it’s such an easy listen I can just go and go.

Mid-run I noticed this I <3 Bacon sticker and stopped to take a picture. Then, I started to realize every  little thing around me (which is good to be aware of your surroundings!).

I noticed this lizard just sunning himself (I think it was a boy but I didn’t check) and he didn’t even run away like they normally do when I went to take a picture.

Fun fact: I am a lizard. Well, I joke that I am part lizard because I can’t control my body temperature and just want to lie on a hot rock to warm my body.

I also spotted an orange cat (my favorite kind) in the bushes. I bet he was hunting. He wasn’t scared of me, but he also didn’t want to hang out.

Luckily I have my own orange cat to hang out with at home.

Every time I get a Stitchfix delivery I keep the box so Vegas can use it for a while (read: until he gets bored of it). Kinda related – I’m really excited about this SF delivery, looks like good stuff!

Remember the Epic Nachos from last night? I do because there were leftovers in my fridge this morning.

Now I am a fan of nachos, even when they’re soggy and I just got home from a night of drinking and eat them messily while standing in front of the fridge.

But if you have a massive amount of leftover nachos and don’t know what to do with them, may I suggest… Chilaquiles (crap that link is from 2010!)

Chilaquiles are basically tortillas chopped up and cooked with eggs, salsa and cheese. These are even better if you use tortilla chips (better tasting but not healthier obviously).

I cooked up the leftover nachos with egg whites, tapatio and a little more cheese on top. Amazing!

Almond butter, cinnamon raisin p.b., crunchy p.b and I eat them all but at different times of the day.
I’m going to try making your protein bars. I made smores brownies today!

      Three open jars:
      1. Kirkland Almond butter (used for baking paleo goods)
      2. Barney Butter smooth almond butter (used for kids sandwiches and mixing with raw honey for daughter’s snack).
      3. TJ’s crunchy unsalted almond butter (used for my snacking purposes–spoon/eat/repeat). I like Barney Butter crunchy MUCH MUCH MUCH better, but I eat it too fast. TJ’s keeps me from OD’ing on it because I just like it, not LOVE it.

We ditched PB from our lives when we went paleo.

What do you think of the Kirkland AB? I’m hesitant to buy such a big container when I might not like it.
TJ’s salted AB is actually my favorite right now (and for a long time).

I am proud to report that I have a whopping 7 jars open at the moment. Sam’s Club almond butter (because AB&J>PB&J), Wild Friends chocolate coconut pb (insert spoon in jar and repeat), Nuts n more pb (sweet and drippy and perfect on top of oatmeal and yogurt), creamy pb (for baking and my little guy), crunchy pb, pb2, and chocolate pb2. Hello my name is Katie, and I’m officially addicted to nut butters!!!

At least 2, but usually 3. All so good! We eat a lot of it in our house. It’s great for breakfast, smoothies, lunch, snacks. Can’t go wrong!

Funny you posted about that lizard. We just noticed the frogs in a pond we ran by were unusually friendly over the weekend. They tend to jump in the water as soon as they hear us, but this time they just hung out looking at us.

Only one jar at the moment. For those natural nut butter readers I just learned a great hack. Store the jar upside down so the oils end up at the bottom of the jar. It’s been life changing!

I make my own almond butter at home because I eat it so fast I can’t spend money on it at the store. It’s also amazing made at home, super quick, and I can flavor it whatever way I want. I end up making some at least once a week. It’s a problem (insert wide eyed emoji here)
