I don’t have any “Food Rules” as in foods I do not allow myself to eat. I’ve come to a place that’s pretty chill about these things.
But there is one rule that I will hold on to with both of my man hands until the day I die =
Dessert MUST have Chocolate or it’s just a snack.
This is another good dessert theory too…
Anyway. I have a nice little Clean Eating Snack Recipe for ya today…
Berry Crisp Recipe for One
Clean, Gluten Free, Chocolate Free, Snack Recipe.
Ingredients:
-
3/4 cup berries – I used frozen berries from Costco’s antioxidant mix
-
1 heaping Tb. Nut butter – PB, Sunflower seed, Almond…
-
1 Tb. Protein Powder – This is my sugar replacement as it’s Sah-weet!
-
2 Tb. Oats – Use Gluten Free if you are into that sorta thing
Directions: Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place berries in an oven safe small baking dish or ramekin.
Smash oats, protein powder and nut butter together. This should be crumbly.
Pour crumbles over berries. Bake 15 minutes or until topping is brown.
Top with a scoop of honey greek yogurt and enjoy!
Enjoy!
Question: Does your dessert have to include chocolate or another flavor?
Patricia says
This looks absolutely scrumptious. I think I am going with the choc verdict here – throw the choc in!! Gotta have chocolate 🙂
Allie says
My mom share’s the same philosophy. When it comes to dessert, “if it’s not chocolate, it’s not worth it.”
Chelsea says
Two words: Ah. Mazing.
😀
Julianne @ LifeOffLeash says
I completely agree! No chocolate = no thanks!
Kelly@ShapeDaily says
Yum. I am sadly pretty obsessed with chocolate. I’ve gotten over the whole idea that I absolutely need a bite after dinner (because it was necessary for my wellbeing) but i 100% agree that any dessert worth having HAS to be chocolate. I hate when I’m out to dinner with others who want to split a dessert and they want to choose apple pie or a piece of cheesecake, I’m like “how about the triple chocolate fudge cake?!”
runeatrepeat says
Yes. We need to share dessert (you know, if I actually were to share…)
Lexie says
Tried this for breakfast this morning. Was so good. Thanks!
Heidi says
Yum! What a great (and healthy!) dessert option 🙂
Jojo says
Yummy I want to make this but I’m out of oats! Might steal some from my roomie to make this…
Anything sweet and delicious is dessert in my book, so doesn’t have to be indulgent. I frequently have fruit for dessert. Especially watermelon during the summer!

Scrumdillyumptioussss!
Eileen says
Stealing this! Sounds amazing!
Ashley @ OurPersonalRecords says
That sounds really good! My requirement for something to be a dessert depends on it’s sugar content. Although I don’t consider Peeps a dessert. Maybe it’s that it has to be baked, if so this fits the bill.
Elizabeth @ Positive Change says
Yum! This snack looks awesome, I really can’t wait to try it! I would try peaches in mine! My desserts have to be GF and Dairy free (allergies), so I typically have fruit desserts because they tend to have less gluten and dairy.
Colleen says
That crisp looks great! What a great spring/summer recipe. Don’t hate me…..that could totally be dessert.
runeatrepeat says
I don’t hate you, that means more chocolate desserts left for me…
Marilyn says
My first thought – let’s get some chocolate chips in there. 🙂
Jessica R @ fromthekitchentotheroad says
That crisp looks delish. I am trying to cut back on dessert because I go a little crazy when there are sweets in the house. I am addicted to ice cream. That is what makes it dessert to me.
MIz says
now THATs what we need here.
love it.
meredith says
Absolutely must without a doubt include chocolate. Dessert doesn’t come in any other flavor. In fact, my favorite weeknight dessert is a giant apple with peanut butter = but in order for it to count as dessert, I crumble dark chocolate on top. Voila. Dessert.
Jodea @ chillichocolatelove says
I love that cartoon! I’m going to send it to my brother. Reminds me of a trip to Haagen Dazs we took once… Good times.
Dessert has to have some biscuit crunch for me. Like cheesecake…
Sharsti@theblondehairblueeyedrunner says
Genius and sounds delish, thank you!!
LauraT says
This looks and sounds delicious! I think I am going to get is baking tomorrow morning for breakfast. I cannot wait!
Stephanie says
Dessert is not the same without chocolate. And yes chocolate with dessert
is perfect setting.
Add a bit of fruits is okay but don’t overspoilt it. That’s my advice.
Presh says
Dessert with chocolate is always awesome. But no mines doesn’t.
It just have to make my sweet tooth do backflips and splits. lol.
Angela says
I am all about the chocolate or it’s not dessert. I’m definitely not a fruity dessert kinda girl.
Patti Smith says
Yum!! I’m assuming you can do this with any fruit? Do you think the cooking time would vary if the berries are fresh?
Presh says
I was just wondering that. I have strawberries in my freezer as of now lol.
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
Ummm… LOVE THIS! I agree. Dessert must have chocolate in order to be considered dessert. Maybe I’ll try this with my chocolate Vega and see if it works 😉
heather @ run eat play says
This.Is.Genius.
Katie @ KatieEnPursuit says
I 100% agree! No chocolate = NOT a dessert! You could totally add chocolate chips to the above & make it a dessert 🙂
Britt @ BrittsRunningStyle says
But it doesn’t have chocolate! Drizzle a little smuckers hot fudge on! Or this could just count as a serving of fruit without the chocolate right? Looks delicious!
Beth @ Running with the Sunrise says
Wow, this dessert is way healthier than it looks! I love me some berry crisp; will have to try making this. I think my dessert just has to be sweet. I am a big fan of fruit-flavored sweets, though. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
