Hello! I keep seeing the signs and commercials for McDonald’s new breakfast bowls. One commercial has a yoga instructor telling a yogi about them. So I realized Mickey D’s might be targeting my audience (you, hi). And I thought I should give them a whirl and let you know what I thought. So today I’m reviewing McDonald’s new breakfast bowls below.
But first we’re talking running and resting, not in that order. Last night I hung out on the couch with my cat. I can’t decide if he’s stealing my body heat or I’m stealing his…
This morning I hit the road for 12 miles. It was nice and cool out, perfect running weather. I sported my RockNBlog tee in honor of a discount code I have for you! Check it out below.
Rock N Roll Full and Half Marathon discount code. Valid for most US races.
Okay, let’s talk McDonald’s new breakfast items… upon further research I think the new breakfast bowls are just in the LA and San Diego areas right now. So if you’re not in SoCal – have you seen them? Have you seen the commercials??
There are two options Egg White Bowl and a Chorizo Bowl. The egg white has 250 calories and 27 grams of protein, it comes with spinach. The chorizo bowl is 540 calories and 30 grams of protein, it comes with a hash brown. I ordered one of each to try both.
The egg white bowl: There are egg whites, spinach and cheese on top of a turkey sausage. It comes with a salsa you put on yourself. The salsa is super tasty and has a tiny bit of a bite (spice). I really liked it.
The chorizo breakfast bowl: There was an egg and chorizo mixture topped with cheese and a side of hash browns. It’s better than the egg white bowl (to be expected due to the higher calorie count).
I’m a volume eater so I think both bowls were a little small on their own. I assume (and might be totally wrong) that they’re both gluten free and can be dairy free if you order without cheese. They would work in a pinch, but wouldn’t be my first (or second) choice for breakfast.

I don’t think it’s a thing in the Southeast yet. I know I’ve heard McDonald’s is kind of feeling the heat since people are actually starting to question their food, but it definitely has not made its way down here yet.

I didn’t even know about those bowls. I guess if I’m on a road trip (which is pretty much the only time I go to McD’s I might try the egg white one).
I’m most likely running Rock n Roll Brooklyn in the fall but that’s all I’ve got on my agenda at the moment.

I just got an email last Monday about early registration for RnR New Orleans NEXT February for $50. I was all over it. 🙂 I wanted to do it this year, but it was too soon after my dog’s surgery. I didn’t want to leave her with the sitter, and I didn’t want to go to NOLA by myself so that my husband could stay home with her either. So I just didn’t go! Luckily I hadn’t registered yet, so I didn’t lose any $.

Doing the San Jose RnR in October. :o)
Supposed to be doing the San Jose 408k (our area code) for the Pat Tillman Foundation tomorrow but it is currently dumping rain and is predicted to through the rest of the weekend. Been sick all week and just starting to feel a little better, so not sure if I will be running in the AM :o\

I have never participated in a RnR race but I am hoping to in the next year or so.
I really don’t think I would give the McDonald’s bowls a try – especially if it wouldn’t be your first or second pick!

I wanted to try those new breakfast bowls from McDonalds but was slightly concerned that the eggs wouldn’t be the best. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl though!
