The Reality of the Situation

bakedgoodsgoingthedistance.jpg

I didn’t post last night because I have a lot going on in my personal life and also had a lot of thinking to do. I was thinking about the reality of my situation… The reality of the situation is… 1. I want to lose weight 2. Most of the bloggers I read that successfully lost weight did something to lose that weight. Some of them counted calories, some of them did weight … [Read more...]

Bad Dieter, Not Bad Person

Camera Crisis!!! Okay, I’ve been talking about needing a new camera for a while now. Well, the time has come and I can’t wait much longer. I’m hesitant to get a SLR because of cost and bulk. But, does anyone really swear it will change my life? If not, what kind of camera do you have (if you love it)?? Thanks for the help! … [Read more...]

Not Running and Intuitive Eating

IMG_6098.jpg

I had a Physical Therapy appointment this afternoon (hence the tardy post). It went well and I’m planning to run 3 miles this weekend. While, 3 miles seems kinda tragic after a run 26 miles two months ago, I’ll take what I can get right now! My physical therapist has been taping my knee each session. My knee cap is shifted a bit to the outside from my imbalanced hip muscles … [Read more...]

Can I Buy You a Drank?

IMG_5264

I have a drinking problem. It's that I drink too much. Of everything. All the time. I do need T-Pain to buy my a drank. A lot of dranks actually... In addition to my daily water habit, here are some of my drinks today: A lot of seltzer... a lot of diet soda :( Iced coffee (pic from yesterday, but true all the same) Wine (not the whole bottle) Tea Poor woman's juice … [Read more...]

Runeatrepeat Loses the Dough

IMG_4315

I was inspired by Tina to come up with my own "Lose the Dough" plan. Tina is trying to lose the dough for her big 3-0. Since I don't have a milestone birthday this year (but love the name) I am going to Lose the Dough for the big 1-0 (as in 2010)! Her plan and goals are similar to mine, but I really believe every body is different and you must write your own diet book (or blog … [Read more...]

It Clicked!

IMG_4186

I don't know how or when exactly, but I feel like this whole intuitive eating thing has finally "clicked" for me. My system was so "off" for so long it took awhile for me to get to know my hunger signals. Yesterday I realized (more than once) when I was hungry and full. I know new born babies know when they're hungry and it's not that impressive, but I'm happy to be able to … [Read more...]

Intuitive Eating and Healthiest Thing on the Menu

pancakes

I used to almost always order the healthiest thing on the menu. I would never go into a restaurant and read the menu looking for what I really wanted. Nope. I would always scan it just looking for my healthy options (read healthy as: low calorie). But, so often I would eat my "healthy" choice then go back home and snack on other things. Even if I was full - I wasn't … [Read more...]

Phase Two: Observation (Over)

IMG_3225

Hello hello! Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had a day of crappy eats and didn't really want to own up to it. By crappy I mean Chinese take-out and drinking eggnog out of the carton. Guilty as charged :) I ordered Pei Wei and for some reason I ordered it extra spicy and it was killer! I loved it though :) Intuitive Eating - Phase Two of my path to Intuitive Eating was … [Read more...]

Stink No More!

IMG_2894

Remember when I was all excited about my new running shoes? Well, after running in them a few times I've decided they didn't offer enough support so I took them back today. I traded them in for a pair of old faithfuls, Adidas Supernova... The salesman mentioned that I get 25% off of everything today (and today was the last day). So, I wandered around the store so I could … [Read more...]

Vegan Chocolate & The Intuitive Eating Process

IMG_2543

Your guesses were correct - I made tofu curry for dinner. I squeezed out the excess water in the tofu for one hour. Then, sauteed a sweet onion and chopped some carrots. I put the tofu, onion, carrots, coconut milk and spices into the crockpot on low for 4 hours (until it had thickened and the carrots were soft). This was not an easy mission. Yesterday I made trip to our … [Read more...]

Mint Chocolate Chip Yogurt

IMG_2237

I found this yogurt at the store on Friday - Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip, and had to try it. I love mint & chip ice cream and hoped this would be as tasty. I knew it would be a reach, but I thought I'd take a shot. It was okay. It tastes a little artificial, and it's not ice cream, but it's a portion controlled alternative. I made it into a shake for dessert tonight and … [Read more...]

Going to Mississippi – for work

IMG_1436

Today I spend a lot of my morning figuring out my travel plans for this week. I am going to Mississippi tomorrow to cover a story about a church that is building a home for a family who lost everything in Katrina. Sounds like a great story, doesn't it?! I am leaving tomorrow morning (early) and will be back by Thursday afternoon. I plan to continue blogging in MS, just need to … [Read more...]

Light Bulb & Lunch

I had a complete "Light Bulb Moment" the other night as I was talking to my BFF. She is trying to lose weight and was asking me for advice. I asked her,"What are the top 2 or 3 habits that are keeping you overweight?" I explained to her that the things that are keeping me from reaching my goal weight are: -  Snacking in the kitchen when I come home after work/errands - … [Read more...]

Kick the food police to the curb

The fourth principle of Intuitive Eating is Challenge the Food Police. Scream a loud "NO" to thoughts in your head that declare you're "good" for eating under 1000 calories or "bad" because you ate a piece of chocolate cake. The Food Police monitor the unreasonable rules that dieting has created. The police station is housed deep in your psyche, and its loud speaker shouts … [Read more...]

Walking and reading

I've been bringing reading material along for my walk home from work. Today I was reading Intuitive Eating, I know I'm super predictable. Anyways, reading the book slowly- as I actually go through the process, is very helpful. Part of what I read today talked about self talk and that this is a process. When you mess up - and you will. - don't talk to yourself negatively. This … [Read more...]

Trust Exercise

This whole Intuitive Eating thing really is a trust exercise between you and you. This week I'm supposed to be working on Making Peace with Food. I made my list and plan on freeing myself from the stigma of "DO NOT EAT THIS" in my head. I don't think that is the hard part. Right now the hard part is giving myself permission to eat any food on the list or not. I don't trust … [Read more...]
