Hello! I just ran the PCRF Half Marathon. It was a BLAST! Here’s my recap and results…

First, PCRF stands for Pediatric Cancer Research Fund. Check out some of their stars here.

Okay. The PCRF Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and Bike Tour events start and finish in Irvine, CA (Orange County). It’s super easy to park (for free) and pick up packets. But for a small race the finish line festival is popping!!

The artist/blogger formerly known as SkinnyRunner ran too. She retired from blogging to design running gear – here she’s modeling her new hat cape.

And now for my pre-half marathon warm up…

Pre Race Warm Up

1. Running Pose 3 reps.

2. Shadow Box until people look at you like you’re crazy.

3. Stretch one rep, whichever side you like better.

4. Bunny Hop – this one is seasonal. Can be switched out for the Santa Shimmy in December, the Turkey Tail Spin in November and Pumpkin push-ups in October.

Okay. Run time!

Before the race SR and I said what our goals where for the race:

Me: “Probably 9s, I slept weird and my neck hurts…”

SR: “Shooting for 8:30s.”

Me: “Roger. Text me after the race.”

Reality: We got lost in conversation and ran the whole thing together. It was faster than either of us expected! I didn’t turn on my music at all and really had a great time.

Then, I ATE ALL the finish line festival FOOD and drank a Jamba Juice smoothie. It was a good time!

I seriously talked about Red Robin fries for a few miles and about hot fudge brownies with ice cream so I’m off to make the EAT part of this whole Run Eat Repeat thing happen…

Question: What is the BEST thing you ate this weekend?

Did you workout today? What did you do?

I opted for a long hike this weekend, instead of a run. It was a perfect spring day in Colorado and the mountain air was just what I needed. The best thing I ate was aTex Mex salad in a jar with creamy cilantro lime dressing. I think was just a matter of right food, right time. Congrats on a great race!

I had some delicious reward pancakes when we went for brunch after I completed the Philly Love Run half. It was a good race. My body let me know my injury is almost 100 percent history.

I believe talking about food is the only way to get a PR. Call me superstitious. Someone during a race turned to me and told me to stop talking about food. Sorry not sorry

I did a walk/run for 4.25 miles on Sunday afternoon. I am in the beginning stages and training to run my first 5K this summer. I ate some pizza and flourless chocolate cake on Friday night it was delicious, but not nutritious. Tonight I made marinated chicken, sweet potato fries, and green beans. How was your cake?

No run for me today – I did my 20-miler yesterday so today was relaxing. 🙂 and food-filled – – went to Quartino’s for dinner! Next time you’re in Chicago, check out Quartino’s.

I had homemade pizza on Saturday night, and that was my favourite food for the weekend! No exercise yet today, but I”m hoping to get my lazy butt to the gym after work.

Please ask Skinny Runner where she got her shirt? Wish I was eating some Red Robin French fries…. Well any kind of french fry would be fine. Never met a French fry i didn’t like.

Actually we talked about it – it’s from Fabletics. I’m going to mention it in tomorrow’s post about what I wore to the half.

Best thing I ate this weekend was pasta with broccoli rabe and double smoked bacon – pre-race dinner 🙂

I ran the West Point Half Marathon today and it was crazy hilly. Really hilly. Like over 1300 feet of course climb. Did I mention the hills?

Pan pizza for dinner last night was noms. Today’s workout will hopefully be the seven miles I didn’t run yesterday, but right now that’s up in the air…because I ate pan pizza for dinner last night.

My run today was crap-tastic- my tank was empty this weekend and I had no energy to get myself in gear.

My best eat of the weekend was a delicious apple pie a la mode sundae last night, with caramel sauce and wet walnuts. Holy yum!

I normally run on Sundays but today it is still cold here in Chicago and then it started to hail, sooooo I just lazed around inside. There are times when I can push myself to run and I know I will feel better, but today was not one of those days.

Also I am ordering deep dish for dinner. FTW.
